Multi-Use Makeup: ILIA Multi-Stick & Clinique Chubby Stick

I have a weakness for high-end/luxury lip products and I love finding deals on them on sites like Marshalls and T.J. Maxx. Integrity Botanicals and The Detox Market are good too, especially for clean beauty products. Because these tend to be on the higher side in price due to containing toxic-free ingredients (no parabens, sulfates, phthalates, etc.), both stores have samples available for many of the brands and their products. I tried a sample of ILIA’s Multi-Stick in the color A Fine Romance. You can purchase it here: ILIA Multi-Stick Sample, A Fine Romance, $10.28 at The Detox Market. After clicking on the aforementioned link, scroll down a little and click on the circled ? that says Sample It.

Being that my complexion is a fairer one with warmer undertones, especially in the warmer months, I was a little hesitant to try this cooler-toned plum. Such a color usually washes me out. However, this one didn’t. It looked great. Having been previously disappointed by the drying and gritty consistency of their Balmy Tint Hydrating Lip Balm on the lips, the formulation of this multi-stick was an unexpected surprise. It felt very good and moisturizing on the lips.

Similarly to the lip balm, there is something in the multi-stick that causes the color to come on kind of streaky and patchy. You have to be patient and build up the color with several swipes so it will look more pigmented. This is not very cost-effective if you’re buying the item in the bigger, regular size. You’ll go through it quickly from using so many swipes of this pricey product that is more on the smaller side when you can get a multi-stick that is much larger and will last you much longer for about half of the price, such as Vapour Beauty’s. However, if you have deeper pockets and are like, ‘The hell with your advice, Stephanie. I love ILIA’s products,’ you can purchase the item in its full size here: ILIA Multi-Stick, A Fine Romance, 0.15 oz, $30 at Walmart.

In order to bring out the warmer tones of my complexion, as well as the berry color on my lips, I used the Clinique Chubby Stick in the shade Bountiful Blush. It’s a gorgeous pinky brown neutral color that I’ve made good use of over time. It especially works great if you have a very dark color on your lips that needs to be lightened/softened up and/or if the color you have on your lips happens to be too drying and needs some moisturizing. Here is the information to purchase the item: Clinique Chubby Stick Moisturizing Lip Colour Balm, No. 10 Bountiful Blush, 0.1 oz, $21.89 at Walmart.

  1. Your makeup looks flawless and that lip color is very pretty on you. I have not tried anything from this brand yet but need to check the multi-stick :-)
