Bath & Body Works Diamond Shimmer & Fine Fragrance Mists
by Stephanie McCarthy
Bath & Body Works’ Midnight Spell Diamond Shimmer Mist smells a lot like a greener and woodier version of both of the eau de parfums of Christian Siriano’s Ooh La Rouge and Maison Francis Kurkdjian’s Baccarat Rouge 540. It’s a very present scent: With merely a few sprays of it and, like the two eau de parfums I just mentioned, there is a strong whiff of the warm, powdery, and sweet-smelling amber note. A lot of wealthy women live in my apartment complex and this swanky smell lingers in the hallways long after they have left. I usually can’t stand fragrance mists due to the alcoholic and watered-down nature of the scents in this form, but Bath & Body Works does a great job with it here overall. It can be purchased here: Bath & Body Works’ Midnight Spell Diamond Shimmer Mist, 1.7 oz, $11.99 on ebay (aka evilbay).
Moonlit Martini is basically a more unisex and citrus version of the brand’s Christmas scent, Winter Candy Apple. It’s a mossier one as well. There’s a fizzy, bubbly note in both fragrances. In Moonlit Martini, it’s the gin. I love gin. It was one of my favorite drinks in college. Moreover, it reminds me a lot of a wonderful drink that my Brazilian side of the family makes. It’s called a caipirinha (pronounced kai-pee-reen-ya) and it’s made with limes, sugar, ice, and Pitu Cachaca (a type of rum made from the fermentation of raw sugarcane juice). Although there’s no alcoholic note listed in Winter Candy Apple, I get a sparkling champagney, seltzer, and soda-like whiff from it. Not only do I wear Moonlit Martini on my wrists, but I also spray it around the trashcans in my apartment to get rid of stronger and more stubborn odors, especially in the kitchen and bathroom areas. You can purchase the mist here: Bath & Body Works Moonlit Martini Fine Fragrance Mist, 8 oz, $21.97 at Walmart.
