Scottish Fine Soaps & Indie Lee Citrus Body Washes & Scrubs
by Stephanie McCarthy
The Scottish Fine Soaps Company’s Citrus Verbena Refreshing Body Wash is easily a dupe for L’Occitane’s Verbena Shower Gel. This is a bright, cheerful, and citrusy lemon scent. Although it’s impossible to beat L’Occitane’s beautiful packaging with an etched-in leaf and a charming chrome silver snap-off top, this shower gel is 25 ounces, which is a lot more than L’Occitane’s 8.4 ounces. So, not only will you get more bang for your buck, but you’ll have it for forever. This is much-appreciated in this terrible economy, in which nearly everything is so expensive due to inflation being so out of control. The only drawback of both of these shower gels is their runny, watery consistency, which is especially evident in The Scottish Fine Soaps Company’s body wash. You can purchase it here: The Scottish Fine Soaps Company Citrus Verbena Refreshing Body Wash, 25 oz, $24.19 on ebay (aka evilbay).
Indie Lee’s Coconut Citrus Body Scrub smells a lot like Trix or Fruit Loops cereal and it is reminiscent of Alo Glow System’s Mega-C Body Wash. The only thing I don’t care for in it is the coconut note. There is an off and ill-fitting smell to it, almost like it doesn’t belong and mix well in this combination. Instead of the wonderful coconut juice smell that I get from Mario Badescu’s Coconut Body Soap, I get a generic, cheap, and plastic-smelling scent from the coconut here. Thankfully, the citrus is at the heart of the scent and it’s the scent you get after the top note of coconut settles in. If it had been the other way around, I wouldn’t have enjoyed it as much as I did. You can buy the body scrub here: Indie Lee Coconut Citrus Scrub, 8 oz, $46.97 at Walmart.
